I decided to take my all-time favorite apple crisp recipe to the next level by drenching it in caramel ice cream topping. The result? A heavenly match that you absolutely need to experience for yourself!
Ingredients:
- 3 cups of old-fashioned oats
- 2 cups of all-purpose flour
- 1.5 cups of packed light brown sugar
- 1.5 teaspoons of cinnamon
- 0.5 teaspoon of nutmeg
- 0.5 teaspoon of cloves
- 1 cup of cold butter (cut into pieces)
- 8 cups of thinly sliced apples
- 16 ounces of caramel ice cream topping
- 1 cup of apple juice (divided)
- Additional cinnamon for sprinkling on apples
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan with nonstick cooking spray.
- Give your apple slices a light dusting of cinnamon.
- In a bowl, mix together the oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. Once they’re all combined, cut in the cold butter.
- Press half of the oat mixture into the greased pan.
- Layer half of the sliced apples and half of the jar of caramel on top.
- Sprinkle 1 cup of the remaining oats over this layer.
- Repeat the layers, using the remaining apples, caramel sauce, and oats. Drizzle 1/2 cup of apple juice all over the crisp.
- Place the pan in the oven and bake, uncovered, for approximately 30 minutes.
- Remove the pan, pour the remaining apple juice over the top, and return it to the oven for another 15-20 minutes. Keep an eye on the apples to ensure they’re fully cooked; the thinner the slices, the quicker they’ll bake.
- Take it out of the oven and serve this delightful treat while it’s still warm.
