Vanilla Crescent Cookies - Christmas Cookies Ideas
Ingredients
- 2 1/3 cups flour
- 1 cup very soft butter
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 cup almonds, ground and preferably blanched / peeled
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 packet of vanilla sugar
- Additionally:
- Powdered sugar for rolling or alternatively dusting
- 1 packet of vanilla sugar for rolling
Instructions
- Knead all the dough ingredients together into a smooth dough. Wrap the dough in foil and chill for about 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 320°F (or 356°F for conventional oven).
- Shape the dough into a roll and cut it into equally sized, bite-sized pieces. If needed, create the rolls on a lightly floured surface. Shape each piece into crescents and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake the Vanilla Crescent Cookies for about 10 - 12 minutes. The baking time varies a bit based on the size of your cookies. I prefer not to let the Vanilla Crescent Cookies turn brown, so I take them out quite pale from the oven.
- Let the cookies cool completely after baking to ensure they become stable.
- Mix some powdered sugar with the vanilla sugar, then roll the Vanilla Crescent Cookies in it. Alternatively, simply dust the crescents with powdered sugar.
- Store the Vanilla Crescent Cookies in suitable containers in a cool place.
