Ingredients

  • 15 oz red velvet cake mix
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 1/4 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons vanilla frosting (like Pillsbury Creamy Supreme)
  • 12 oz white candy melts (like Wilton)
  • Extra red food coloring (optional, for decorating)
  • 1 tablespoon dipping aid

Instructions

    Prepare the Cake:

In a large bowl, combine the red velvet cake mix, vegetable oil, eggs, and water until smooth. Using an electric hand mixer works best for this.
Spray a 9x13 inch baking pan with nonstick spray, then pour the red velvet cake batter inside.
Bake at 350°F (175°C) according to the instructions on the cake mix box.
Once baked, transfer the cake to a cooling rack and let it cool completely. To speed up the process, cut the cake into several pieces to cool faster.

    Make the Cake Balls:

Once the cake is completely cool, crumble it into a large bowl.
Add the vanilla frosting and mix until the mixture holds together when pressed.
Roll the mixture into small balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Chill the cake balls in the fridge for about 30 minutes.

    Dip in Chocolate:

Melt the white candy melts according to the package instructions. If desired, add a bit of red food coloring for a decorative touch.
Stir in the dipping aid to make the coating smoother.
Dip each cake ball into the melted candy and place them back on the parchment paper to set.

    Decorate:

If using extra red food coloring, drizzle it over the cake balls for a pretty finish.
Enjoy these delightful Red Velvet Cake Balls! They’re a perfect treat for any gathering, and everyone will love the combination of dense cake and crisp candy shell.
