One of the must-haves at German Christmas markets: Quarkbällchen 😍 They’re super easy to make but incredibly tasty, so make sure to save this recipe for these sugary balls 🥰 🇩🇪 Fluffy dough balls rolled in sugar, this recipe is really super simple
Quarkbällchen
Ingredients
- 2 cups + 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour (250g)
- 1 packet baking powder
- A bit less than 1 cup granulated sugar (125g)
- 1 packet vanilla
- A pinch of salt
- 250g quark (you can use Greek yogurt as a substitute)
- 2 eggs
- Sunflower oil for frying
- For Coating:
- Half a cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
Instructions
In a deep bowl, mix quark (or yogurt), eggs, and granulated sugar, then add the remaining ingredients and continue mixing until you get a smooth, sticky dough.
Heat the vegetable oil in a small saucepan and then reduce the heat a bit.
Transfer the dough into a piping bag and cut off the tip to make a large opening. Dip the tip of the scissors into the hot oil and use them to cut the dough into the oil. Fry for 2-3 minutes until golden brown, then coat the balls in the sugar-cinnamon mixture and enjoy! 😋
