Introducing Black Forest Cookies, but let me tell you, these are seriously delicious! 😁 I highly recommend giving them a try.
Black Forest Cookies - Christmas Cookies Ideas
Ingredients
- For the Dough:
- 2 3/4 cups flour
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 packet of vanilla sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
- For the Filling:
- 7 ounces white chocolate
- 3.4 fluid ounces heavy cream
- 10.5 ounces cherry jam (strained) or cherry jelly
- Optional: 1-2 tablespoons cherry schnapps
- Additionally:
- 3.5 ounces milk or dark chocolate
- A small handful of chopped dark chocolate for sprinkling
Instructions
- Start by kneading the dough ingredients for the Schwarzwälder Kirsch Plätzchen together. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and let it rest in the refrigerator for about 30 - 60 minutes.
- While the dough is resting, prepare the filling. Finely chop the white chocolate. Bring the heavy cream to a boil in a saucepan, then pour it over the chopped white chocolate. Stir immediately and keep stirring until everything is completely melted, and no lumps remain. Chill the filling for a few hours to let it set.
- Preheat your oven to 320°F (or 356°F for conventional oven).
- Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface and cut out circles. For half of the circles, cut out a small hole in the center, where the cherry jam or jelly will go later. Place all the cookies on baking sheets lined with parchment paper and bake for about 10-12 minutes. After baking, allow the cookies to cool completely.
- Finely chop the dark chocolate and melt it slowly over a double boiler. Briefly dip the cookies with the hole in the center into the melted chocolate, place them on parchment paper, sprinkle them with the chopped dark chocolate, and let them dry.
- For the filling, beat the cooled cream until creamy with a hand mixer or whisk, then fill it into a piping bag with a round or star-shaped tip. Pipe a swirl onto the baked cookies without a hole in the center, leaving the center empty for the cherry jam or jelly.
- Gently warm the cherry jam or jelly and optionally mix it with cherry schnapps. Then fill the center of the cookies with it.
